Naju-si Conducts Field Response Drill for Food Poisoning Incident

Naju City in Jeollanam-do recently conducted a joint simulated response drill for food poisoning outbreaks at Paldo Co., Ltd. Naju Factory, together with the provincial and city/county hygiene departments and infectious disease departments.

According to the city on the 4th, the drill assumed a situation where a large number of people showed suspected food poisoning symptoms from industrial meal services. About 50 participants took part, including Paldo Co., Ltd. Naju Factory, Hyundai Green Food, and rapid response teams from the province and city/counties.

The main activities included ▲reporting the food poisoning outbreak situation ▲rapid communication and on-site dispatch among related agencies ▲conducting food poisoning cause and epidemiological investigations ▲disinfecting meal facilities and educating food handlers ▲post-food poisoning measures and countermeasure meetings.

Especially this year, with unprecedented heatwaves expected, the drill focused on training for environmental and human specimen collection procedures and methods for epidemiological investigations of causes in case of food poisoning outbreaks.

The city plans to maintain an organic cooperation system with Jeollanam-do and companies and respond quickly and accurately to food poisoning outbreaks caused by negligence in meal management to prevent further spread.

Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “We will maintain a cooperative system with related agencies to strengthen food poisoning prevention management and ensure thorough food safety management,” adding, “We will do our best to achieve zero food poisoning by conducting food poisoning prevention diagnostic consulting at collective meal service facilities to provide safe food.”

Meanwhile, the city conducts year-round food poisoning prevention guidance and hygiene inspections targeting food ingredient suppliers, recreational area restaurants, gimbap and lunchbox vendors, daycare centers, social welfare facilities, and industrial sites.
