Mokpo Maritime Police Station Strengthens Marine Environment Protection with Introduction of Latest Safety Equipment

Ceremony Held for Eco-Friendly LNG Patrol Ship 'Bangje 16' and Latest Patrol Boat '208' Commissioning

Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) is taking the lead in protecting the marine environment and ensuring safety by introducing the latest marine safety equipment.


According to Mokpo Maritime Police, on the 4th, a commissioning ceremony was held at the exclusive pier of Mokpo Maritime Police Station for the eco-friendly LNG pollution control ship ‘Pollution Control Ship No.16’ and the state-of-the-art patrol boat ‘Patrol Boat 208’.


About 50 guests, including Park Geum-gu, head of the Mokpo branch of the Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, and Yoo In-sook, chairman of the Mokpo Maritime Police Policy Advisory Committee, attended the event.

The event proceeded with a progress report, naming certificate presentation, and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Pollution Control Ship No.16 uses LNG, an eco-friendly fuel, contributing to the protection of the maritime environment, and is equipped with three fire monitors to respond to marine pollution accidents.


This vessel is expected to play an important role in protecting the marine environment.


The Patrol Boat 208, which was completed in March and assigned to Mokpo Maritime Police, was also commissioned. With a top speed of 30 knots, this boat combines mobility and speed, and is expected to actively protect maritime sovereignty and maintain security in its jurisdictional waters.


A Mokpo Maritime Police official stated, “With the deployment of the new special vessel and patrol boat, the capabilities of Mokpo Maritime Police have been strengthened. We will do our best for a safe sea.”


In this way, Mokpo Maritime Police Station is continuously making various efforts to protect a safe marine environment and seas by introducing the latest equipment, establishing itself as an important partner for marine safety in the local community and the nation.
