Jeonnam Province Launches Full-Scale Effort to Expand Local Agricultural Food Companies' Entry into Southeast Asia

Participation in '2024 Taifex Expo' with 4 Local Companies

$3.026 Million in Consultations and $7,000 in Agreement Achievements

Jeonnam Province is focusing on expanding export routes to Southeast Asia by participating in the world food expo and signing export agreements.

According to the province on the 4th, from the 1st, they participated in the ‘Thaifex Expo,’ one of the world’s top three food expos held in Bangkok, Thailand, along with Korea Jeda Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, JS Korea Co., Ltd., Araum Co., Ltd., and Daeryuk Food Co., Ltd.

This was promoted to expand the entry of local agricultural and food companies into the Southeast Asian market.

The Thaifex Food Expo is the largest B2B-focused international food expo held in Southeast Asian countries. This expo featured participation from over 3,000 companies from more than 40 countries.

It was held as a trade consultation expo for professional buyers and a consumer expo open to the general public.

Jeonnam Province fully supported the four local participating companies by covering booth rental fees, basic equipment costs, transportation and customs clearance fees, and interpretation fees.

The participating companies achieved a total of 79 export consultations, resulting in a total consultation performance of $3,026,000. Korea Jeda Agricultural Cooperative Corporation, which exports green tea and green tea mixes, signed a business agreement (MOU) worth $7,000.

Shin Hyun-gon, Jeonnam Province’s International Cooperation Officer, said, “As a result of selecting and supporting excellent agricultural specialties from Jeonnam, we have taken an important step toward entering the promising Southeast Asian market, including Thailand. We will continue to actively support the international competitiveness of agricultural and marine food export companies and their entry into overseas markets.”
