On the previous day, OB Beer attended the 'Gangnam Green Festival' held at the COEX East Plaza in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where it signed an agreement with Gangnam-gu to promote ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management for carbon neutrality and pledged to participate in the 'One Company-One Stream Maintenance' campaign. The agreement included participation from 10 companies within Gangnam-gu, including OB Beer.
The Gangnam Green Festival, hosted by Gangnam-gu, served as a collaborative platform where the public, private, and academic sectors pledged to practice carbon neutrality for future generations. Alongside the business agreement ceremony, a 'Green Expo' was held featuring exhibition booths by companies and citizen action groups.
At the Green Expo, OB Beer operated promotional booths such as the ▲Net Zero Zone ▲Upcycling Zone ▲Cass Hope Forest Zone to introduce carbon reduction activities to consumers. They exhibited various upcycled products, including cosmetics and food made from upcycled Cass beer lees, as part of their journey toward carbon neutrality by 2040. The 'Cass Hope Forest' afforestation project, which has been planting trees in Mongolia for 15 years to prevent desertification and reduce carbon emissions, was also showcased through a quiz event.
For employees, OB Beer held the 'Net Zero Summit.' They shared achievements in sustainable management such as Scope 1 and 2 carbon reductions and the introduction of recycled PET (rPET) made from recycled plastics, expressing their ambition to achieve the 'carbon neutrality' vision by 2040. The event also included an award ceremony for eco-friendly ideas selected from the 'Sustainability Idea Contest' conducted among employees.
In particular, to commemorate World Environment Day, OB Beer operated the 'Gamtan Stamp Challenge' to encourage employees to practice carbon neutrality in their daily lives. Through the 'Gamtan' challenge?short for 'carbon reduction'?employees who completed all four missions, including ▲commuting by public transportation ▲using carbon-reduced coffee and vegan soy milk morning cafes ▲experiencing the Green Expo booths ▲participating in the Net Zero Summit, were given a 'Gamtan Kit' consisting of eco-friendly household items and snacks.
An OB Beer official said, “We prepared various World Environment Day programs to inform consumers about our 2040 carbon neutrality vision and to help employees practice carbon reduction activities in their daily lives. We aim to reduce carbon emissions by 25% by 2025 and will strive to internalize sustainable management to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.”
