Riders Working Over 40 Hours Weekly Earn 3.93 Million KRW Monthly from January to April
One Year Since Altteul Delivery Introduction, Profit Improved Through Efficiency Increase
The earnings of riders delivering through Baemin Connect have increased by approximately 11.3% since the introduction of Altteul Baedal. It was explained that the data proves that the riders' earnings increased following the implementation of 'Altteul Baedal' last April, which aimed to reduce the social costs involved in delivery.
Woowa Brothers, the company responsible for Baemin's logistics services, announced on the 4th that the average monthly income of riders working more than 40 hours per week on Baemin Connect from January to April this year was 3.93 million KRW. This is about 400,000 KRW higher compared to 3.53 million KRW during the same period last year, and the working hours included idle and waiting times unrelated to delivery tasks.
In particular, the riders' earnings exclude additional amounts paid through mutual growth support funds and missions, which are monthly payments given to riders who meet certain conditions, suggesting that the actual income improvement may have been even greater. This is the result achieved about one year after Baemin introduced Altteul Baedal.
During the same period, the top 10% of Baemin riders based on monthly income earned an average of 4.04 million KRW per month, which is 270,000 KRW higher than the 3.77 million KRW earned during the same period last year. Their weekly working hours decreased by more than one hour, from 47.79 hours to 46.42 hours. The reduction in delivery time, including idle time, indicates that riders' income efficiency was successfully improved.
Altteul Baedal, first introduced in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, at the end of April last year, is a service based on artificial intelligence (AI) recommended dispatching. It optimizes multiple deliveries into the most efficient routes and proposes them to riders to improve profitability, while allowing consumers to use delivery services at reasonable delivery fees.
A Woowa Brothers official stated, “The effect of Altteul Baedal, launched with the goal of reducing social costs involved in delivery and satisfying riders, consumers, and business owners alike, has been confirmed. We will continuously enhance the Altteul Baedal system based on safe AI recommended dispatching to continuously improve riders' profitability and reduce the social costs involved in delivery.”
