On the 3rd (local time), KT announced on the 4th that it signed a strategic partnership at MS headquarters in Redmond, Washington, USA, to foster close cooperation in AI, cloud, and IT fields. The signing ceremony was attended by KT CEO Kim Young-seop and MS CEO Satya Nadella.

Through this agreement, the two companies will collaborate on ▲ joint AI and cloud research and development projects ▲ development of Korean-style AI, cloud, and IT services ▲ establishment of an AI and cloud innovation center ▲ and nurturing AI and cloud talent.

The two companies plan to detail their cooperation and support areas in the domestic AI and cloud sectors by September. KT plans to lead the Korean market by utilizing Microsoft’s technology to develop 'Sovereign Cloud' and 'Sovereign AI,' which enhance security to a level that ensures data and AI sovereignty for customers in the public and financial sectors.

CEO Kim said, "After in-depth discussions over six months since my inauguration at the end of last year, the combination of KT’s domestic business experience and MS’s technological capabilities has enabled us to become a competitive AI innovation partner in Korea. Through comprehensive cooperation with MS, we will respond swiftly to market changes and do our best to become a milestone in Korea’s digital innovation."
