Gyeonggi-do Supports 'Children and Youth Transportation Expenses'... 340,000 Applicants in One Month Poster for Gyeonggi-do Children and Youth Transportation Expense Support Project

Gyeonggi Province's 'Children and Youth Transportation Cost Support Project,' introduced in May, surpassed 340,000 applicants within just one month of implementation.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 4th that as of the 3rd of this month, over 340,000 children and youth aged 6 to 18 residing in the province have applied for the Children and Youth Transportation Cost Support Project, which has been accepting applications since May 2nd.

Children and youth aged 6 to 18 in the province who apply for transportation cost support will receive a 100% refund on transportation expenses used, up to 60,000 KRW per quarter and 240,000 KRW annually. The refund covers public transportation fares used in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon.

Previously, Gyeonggi Province doubled the annual support amount from 120,000 KRW to 240,000 KRW in line with the launch of 'The Gyeonggi Pass.' The scope of support was also expanded from being limited to single and transfer rides on Gyeonggi buses to covering public transportation fares used throughout the metropolitan area starting in May. Eligible transportation includes village buses, city buses, express buses, subways (including the Shinbundang Line), and GTX. However, transportation modes requiring separate tickets such as express buses, airport buses, and KTX are not eligible for refunds.

Kim Sang-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Transportation Bureau, stated, "We hope that the expanded Children and Youth Transportation Cost Support Project will provide practical relief from transportation expenses related to commuting. We will actively promote the project and devote ourselves to its implementation to improve transportation welfare for Gyeonggi residents."

Min Kyung-sun, President of the Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, promised, "We have reorganized the system to make it easier for residents to apply for the Gyeonggi Province Children and Youth Transportation Cost Support Project by simplifying the application process and improving accessibility. We will strive to ensure that more residents can benefit from transportation cost support."
