Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) has newly appointed singer Kwon In-ha and MC Jo Young-gu as the “Mapo-gu Ambassadors,” the faces of Mapo.
MC Jo Young-gu, who debuted as the first SBS public recruitment MC and became widely known through the show Midnight TV Entertainment, is currently active in programs such as Our Neighborhood Health King.
Recently recognized as the “National Manager” of the MZ generation and actively performing music with the “Kwon In-ha Band,” singer Kwon In-ha also joined the Mapo-gu Ambassador group starting in June.
The ambassador appointment ceremony was held on the morning of the 1st at the Mapo-gu Office Policy Meeting Room, attended by Mayor Park Gang-su.
At the ceremony, Jo Young-gu said, “Mapo-gu is literally hot these days,” adding, “I am honored to become an ambassador for Mapo-gu, which continues to develop without stopping, and I will do my best to passionately promote Mapo-gu through the microphone.”
Kwon In-ha also said, “Since I started music in a recording studio in Seogyo-dong in the 1990s and have been making music in Mapo-gu for 25 years, Mapo-gu holds a special meaning for me,” and added, “As an ambassador, I will contribute to the development of Mapo-gu’s performance culture and arts.”
Furthermore, Kwon In-ha revealed plans to hold live performances by the Kwon In-ha Band for citizens and foreign tourists visiting Hongdae Red Road, receiving enthusiastic applause from attendees.
The two newly appointed ambassadors, having received their plaques, will lead efforts to promote Mapo by participating in the production of promotional videos and various festivals and events over the next two years.
Including the two newly appointed ambassadors, Mapo-gu currently has a total of 10 ambassadors, including announcer Lee Jae-yong, singers Haha and Kim Heung-guk, traditional musician Park Ae-ri, and performing artist Poppin Hyun-jun.
So far, Mapo-gu ambassadors have played significant roles in representative projects and festivals such as the Resident Participation Filial Piety Meal project, the Mapo Naru Salted Shrimp Festival, the Red Road Countdown Event, and the Sky Road Festa.
Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo-gu said, “I sincerely thank Kwon In-ha and Jo Young-gu for willingly accepting the role of ambassadors for the residents of Mapo-gu,” adding, “Like pearls in the dirt, no matter how good a policy is, it is useless if it is not known. I ask that the two of you play a major role as the representative faces of Mapo-gu in promoting and taking pride in Mapo-gu’s name and excellent policies.”
