'Twice a Day' Truck Overturns... 9 Tons of Beer Bottles Cover the Street

In Ulsan, there were consecutive accidents in which beer bottles loaded on trucks running twice in one day spilled onto the road.

On the 3rd, Yonhap News reported, "According to the police, at around 3:58 p.m. that day, a box of beer bottles loaded on a cargo truck making a right turn at an intersection in Seonam-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan, spilled." The spilled boxes contained about 9 tons of broken beer bottles, and shattered glass fragments and beer covered the road.

Due to this accident, one lane turning right from Ulsan Grand Park towards Gaeuncho was closed for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Afterwards, police and local government officials who responded to the report carried out debris collection work. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

The police believe the cargo truck driver did not properly secure the cargo bed and issued a traffic violation notice (violation of measures to prevent cargo from falling) to the driver, Mr. A, who is in his 50s.

Earlier that day, at around 8:46 a.m., another accident occurred in Seongan-dong, Jung-gu, where seven boxes of beer spilled from a truck driving on the road. Dozens of beer bottles inside the boxes broke, scattering fragments and beer on the road, causing inconvenience as the Ulsan Police Agency controlled one of the three lanes heading towards the old downtown area. After police and local authorities completed the cleanup, all debris was collected and traffic resumed.

The truck involved in the Seongan-dong accident continued driving without taking any action immediately after the fall, prompting the police to search for the truck at one point. Through analysis of nearby CCTV footage and vehicle number checks, the police issued the same traffic violation notice (violation of measures to prevent cargo from falling) to the driver, Mr. B, also in his 50s.

Mr. B later told the police that he did not stop the vehicle after the boxes fell because he was unaware that the boxes had fallen.
