Byeongno Lee, Damyang County Governor, Emphasizes 'Promoting More Outreach-Oriented Rural Welfare'

Thorough Reminder to Prepare for Summer Natural Disasters

Lee Byeong-no, former governor of Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, emphasized the promotion of the "Damyang-style Hyangchon Welfare" with a focus on "more care and more outreach."


According to Damyang-gun on the 3rd, Governor Lee expressed his gratitude to the public officials who diligently carried out the current administrative tasks, including the successful hosting of the 23rd Damyang Bamboo Festival and various events and projects, during the June regular briefing.

He continued, "As a result of efforts to realize filial administration, a pledge of the 8th local government, rural care projects such as hospital accompaniment services for elderly with mobility difficulties, care services for discharged elderly, and home visit medical services have received great responses," adding, "Please continue to meticulously promote related projects such as the establishment of the rural communal meal center, operation of the 'Care Farm' for dementia patients, and welfare checks through care robots."


He also stated, "Recently, by expanding export channels for Damyang agricultural products and increasing large-scale consumption outlets such as school meal supplies, we are laying the foundation for the realization of a 'wealthy rural community felt by all residents,'" and urged, "Continuous efforts are needed to create a sustainable Damyang-style future agriculture."


In addition, he requested a comprehensive safety inspection of disaster-vulnerable areas in preparation for summer natural disasters, prevention of agricultural machinery accidents during the farming season, and establishment of public service discipline.


Governor Lee Byeong-no said, "June is the month of national defense and veterans, and a lecture on the late Goha Song Jin-woo, an independence activist from Damyang-gun, is scheduled at the 187th 21st Century Damyang Forum," adding, "I hope it will be a valuable time for public officials and residents to honor the noble spirit of sacrifice of our ancestors and to reflect on the true meaning of veterans' affairs through active participation."


Meanwhile, during the regular briefing, performances by the Damsoop Malgeun Flute team, a public officials' club in Damyang-gun, were held, along with commendations for exemplary veterans in honor of the month of national defense and veterans, and awards for outstanding contributors to the Bamboo Festival. Awards were also presented to winners of the 43rd National Bamboo Design and Craft Competition.


Additionally, staff training was conducted on the efficient work promotion direction through the Seoul office, which has been operating since the 8th local government, as well as on the operational achievements and future plans of the Hometown Love Donation System.
