Enhancing Field Relevance by Improving Job Understanding
The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology (President Kim Youngdo, Department Head Kim Jongwan) visited the Busan Institute of Scientific Investigation on the 30th of last month to conduct an on-site field trip program.
This field trip program was organized as part of the 2024 LINC 3.0 (Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation) project, aiming to provide students with hands-on experience in various career fields after graduation from the Department of Clinical Laboratory Science.
About 30 first-year students from the department participated, touring research labs such as the Department of Forensic Medicine, Genetics, Toxicology, Chemistry, and Narcotics at the Busan Institute of Scientific Investigation to learn about the work involved in scientific investigation.
Kim Yunhee, a first-year student who participated in the program, said, "Through the visit to the Busan Institute of Scientific Investigation, my interest and understanding of careers related to clinical laboratory scientists have increased. It was a valuable experience as forensic scientists and investigators provided detailed explanations about the advantages and duties of the scientific investigation institute, allowing us to truly understand the work involved."
The Department of Clinical Laboratory Science at Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, established in 2006, boasts a high national examination pass rate and employment rate for clinical laboratory scientists. Graduates are active in various fields, including university hospitals, general hospitals, the Scientific Investigation Division of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
