50 Student Representatives Visit National Assembly and Cheong Wa Dae for Activities
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo) will operate a 'Leadership Camp' for 50 student council members from the office's student council over a two-day, one-night period on the 4th and 5th at locations including the National Assembly Building.
This camp, now in its second year, aims to foster the leadership and democratic citizenship skills of student council members who lead student self-governance culture.
On the 4th, the student council members will visit the National Assembly Building, observe a plenary session, tour the National Assembly Library, and participate in legislative activity experiences. They will also tour Deoksugung Palace while listening to a docent's explanation.
On the 5th, they will visit the Blue House, the Supreme Court, and the Seoul High Court, and have time to cultivate awareness of legal order and constitutional values through mock trial experiences and conversations with judges.
At the student council inauguration ceremony held on the 13th of last month, the office provided camp activity guides and safety education for safe and meaningful camp operation. In particular, 12 people, including office staff and facilitators, will accompany this camp to ensure the students' safety.
Ha Yoonsoo, Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, said, "This camp will be a meaningful time to strengthen students' self-governance capabilities and explore their career paths," and added, "The office will spare no effort to support students who will lead the development of Korea so they can grow into healthy democratic citizens."
