From April 16 to July 30, a total of 9 bus companies affiliated with Nowon-gu, including city and village buses, will receive case-based training on major bus violations to prevent complaints and administrative actions in advance
Nowon-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will be the first autonomous district in Seoul to conduct a ‘Visiting Bus Transportation Worker Education’ program.
The district planned the ‘Visiting Bus Transportation Worker Education’ in response to the continuous increase in complaints about bus inconveniences. The education aims to resolve the inconveniences passengers experience while using buses and to prevent administrative sanctions caused by transportation workers’ lack of understanding of complaints in advance.
The education started on April 16 with bus companies Seongseo Transportation and Orange Transportation in Nowon-gu and will continue until July 30. District officials will visit the offices of local bus transportation companies directly to conduct the sessions.
The target audience includes transportation workers from nine companies (five city bus companies and four village bus companies) affiliated with Nowon-gu who wish to participate, totaling approximately 1,320 workers.
In particular, this education is conducted with a focus on concrete case studies to enhance the understanding of transportation workers.
The main topics include ▲ stopping before boarding and alighting and passing without stopping ▲ boarding and alighting outside bus stops ▲ reckless driving ▲ refusal of boarding, using actual complaint video materials.
On May 24, education was conducted for transportation workers from three companies: Samhwa Sangun, Heungan Transportation, and Hanseong Passenger Transport. Considering the low participation rate due to bus operations according to individual schedules, the visiting education aims to allow more transportation workers to receive training.
During the education, in addition to the case studies in the materials, transportation workers actively participated by asking questions about other complaints they directly experience in the field. A company official said, “Since the district, which is the supervisory institution, hosts the education, bus drivers seem to be more interested and participate more actively.”
The district plans to reflect questions raised during the Q&A session of the ‘Visiting Transportation Worker Education’ in the educational materials in real time and to increase the number of target companies through periodic promotion.
District Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “We have taken proactive communication measures to resolve inconveniences for district residents using buses and to address concerns of transportation companies and workers for improving passenger transport services,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to discover customized administrative services for the comfortable daily lives of our residents.”
