Free Admission to Leeum Museum of Art for Munhwa Nuri Card Holders and Historical Culture Tour Participants
Aiming to Enhance Resident Cultural Welfare and Expand Opportunities for Enjoying Arts and Culture
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) signed a new business agreement on the 29th of last month with the Samsung Foundation of Culture (CEO Yoo Moon-hyung) and Yongsan Cultural Center (Director Han Tae-sook) to enhance cultural welfare for local residents and expand opportunities to enjoy culture and the arts.
This was arranged to continue the cooperative relationship following the successful conclusion of the previous agreement.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲ continued support for free admission to the Leeum Museum of Art for holders of the Culture Nuri Card ▲ continued free admission to the Leeum Museum of Art for participants in the Yongsan History and Culture Exploration Program ‘Finding the Mountain of the Dragon’ ▲ regular sharing of work to revitalize culture and the arts and discovery of cultural and artistic resources.
The Culture Nuri Card is a card that supports cultural arts, domestic travel, and sports activities up to 130,000 KRW annually for basic livelihood security recipients and low-income groups. ‘Finding the Mountain of the Dragon’ is a program operated by the Yongsan Cultural Center that explores cultural and artistic landmarks and historical sites within the region.
A district official explained, “Over two years, a total of 41 sessions of ‘Finding the Mountain of the Dragon’ were held with 556 participants,” adding, “Thanks to the fame of the Leeum Museum of Art on the exploration course, it became an opportunity to promote other exploration sites in the area as well.”
During the previous agreement period, the Samsung Foundation of Culture also supported free admission to the Leeum Museum of Art for Culture Nuri Card holders and participants of ‘Finding the Mountain of the Dragon.’ During the Itaewon Global Village Festival, a 50% discount on admission fees and a 10% discount at the Leeum Store were offered to all visitors.
The district presented a plaque of appreciation to the Samsung Foundation of Culture at the signing ceremony, expressing gratitude not only for the agreement but also for the foundation’s efforts in regional development in the field of culture and arts.
The Samsung Foundation of Culture has taken the lead in realizing cultural welfare for local residents. In April of this year, to commemorate Disability Day, it invited about 240 people including persons with disabilities, their families, and volunteers from over 10 social welfare facilities in the area to attend a museum viewing event.
Additionally, support has been diversified by inviting various groups such as ▲ local youth for the ‘Beautiful Architecture Tour’ ▲ multicultural family centers ▲ senior welfare centers.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, “I thank the Samsung Foundation of Culture and Yongsan Cultural Center for elevating Yongsan’s dignity through culture and the arts,” and added, “We will continue to strive to discover cultural and artistic programs so that residents can enjoy a richer life.”
The signing ceremony was held on the 29th afternoon in the mayor’s office at the district office, attended by Mayor Park Hee-young, CEO Yoo Moon-hyung, Director Han Tae-sook, and others. The ceremony lasted 30 minutes and included the signing of the agreement, presentation of the plaque of appreciation, and commemorative photos. This agreement will be maintained for two years until May 2026.
