Russia "Seizes Umanske in Donetsk Oblast, Eastern Ukraine"

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the 2nd (local time) that it has taken control of the village of Umanske in Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that Russian forces "liberated" the village of Umanske and inflicted defeats on five Ukrainian brigades while repelling five counterattacks over the past 24 hours.

Recently, Russia has been intensifying its offensive in the 'special military operation' battlefields, including Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine. On the 31st of last month, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov stated that Russian forces had taken control of 28 villages in May, and Ukrainian forces had retreated 8 to 9 km.

However, in Belgorod Oblast, a Russian border region near Kharkiv, Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of Belgorod, claimed that casualties occurred due to Ukrainian attacks.

He reported that Igor Nechiporenko, deputy head of administration and secretary of the regional security council of Korochansky District in Belgorod, died in an ammunition explosion, and other officials sustained minor injuries.

He also added that in the village of Shebekino, Belgorod, five bus passengers and one person on the street were injured by shrapnel from Ukrainian shelling and were transported to the hospital.

Both Russia and Ukraine claim they do not target civilians in their attacks.

On the morning of the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had shot down three Ukrainian drones overnight over Belgorod, Kursk Oblasts, and the Sea of Azov.
