Geumcheon-gu Extends Barrier-Free Forest Trail in Gwanaksan Neighborhood Park... Approximately 1km Circular Walking Path Created

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has extended the 464m "Barrier-Free Forest Trail" on the north side of Gwanaksan Neighborhood Park (Samgak Park, 1010-12, Siheung-dong).

The "Barrier-Free Forest Trail" is a forest path designed with a width of over 2 meters and a slope of less than 8%, allowing walking-vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities and the elderly to enjoy the beautiful scenery, recreation, and healing benefits of the forest.

The extension project of the Barrier-Free Forest Trail was promoted to enable walking-vulnerable individuals and residents near the park to use Samgak Park, which is located on a somewhat steep area, more conveniently.

Previously, in 2021, the district had constructed a 415m Barrier-Free Forest Trail on the south side of Samgak Park as the first phase.

With this extension project, residents can now use a total of 879m of circular Barrier-Free Forest Trail, and park accessibility has improved, allowing more people to enjoy exercise facilities within the park.

For residents' convenience, the district installed rest shelters and benches throughout the Barrier-Free Forest Trail and newly created a short walking path leading to Hoamsan. Additionally, night lighting will be installed later to create a safe and pleasant environment for walking after sunset.

Meanwhile, the district has also created Barrier-Free Forest Trails of 1.78km and 1.94km around Hoam Neulsolgil and Geumcheon Sports Park, respectively, receiving high praise from residents.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "In addition to the newly added Barrier-Free Forest Trail in Gwanaksan, we plan to create various walking paths and parks. We will do our best to establish these as attractive destinations visited not only by local residents but also by tourists."
