On May 29, the 76,880㎡ area around 675 Sillim-dong in Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) was designated as the ‘Sillim 7 Housing Redevelopment Zone’ by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

Notably, the newly designated Sillim 7 Housing Redevelopment Zone draws attention as it was previously removed from the maintenance planned area in 2014 due to its poor location on hilly terrain and low project feasibility.

Reflecting the residents’ persistent demands, the district recommended the 675 Sillim-dong area as the first project for Seoul’s Rapid Integrated Planning Housing Redevelopment Contest. Currently, four areas including Sillim 7 (▲Sillim 5 ▲Sillim 8 (Nangok 1) ▲Sillim 5-1) have been selected for the Rapid Integrated Planning Contest and are in the process of establishing maintenance plans.

The district invested a total budget of 456 million KRW to expedite the Sillim 7 housing redevelopment project and conducted a maintenance plan establishment service.

Additionally, by holding multiple One-Team meetings and advisory group meetings composed of experts in urban planning, transportation, and architecture, integrated reviews were conducted, achieving a remarkable reduction in the maintenance plan establishment period from about five years to two years.

The Sillim 7 zone (area around 675 Sillim-dong) covers a total area of 76,880㎡ and is located at the foot of Mokgolsan. The district plans to develop it into a multi-family housing complex with 1,402 households (including 291 rental units), arranging buildings ranging from 4 to a maximum of 25 floors.

Furthermore, to ensure connectivity with green spaces that harmonize with the surrounding landscape, the district plans to link public pedestrian pathways with visual corridors and secure ample openness. This area will be utilized as a community communication space for residents.

The district plans to continue accelerating the prompt and fair progress of the Sillim 7 zone redevelopment project in the future.

By gathering residents’ opinions, the district will skip the stage of establishing a union promotion committee and directly support the establishment of the union by forming a consultative body with an expert as the chairperson and a resident representative as the vice-chairperson.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, “We will continue to listen closely to the voices of residents to dramatically improve the residential environment in Gwanak-gu and do our best to make Gwanak-gu a better place to live.”
