The Capital Region's Premier Marine Festival 'Hwaseong Baetnori Festival' Opens Today

Held for three days until the 2nd at Jeongokhang Area
Rich Participatory Programs Including Yacht Boarding Experience and Fireworks

The 14th Hwaseong Boat Festival, recognized as a representative marine festival in the Seoul metropolitan area, opened on the 31st. This year's festival, themed "Sea of Imagination, Hope Hwaseong," will be held for three days from today until the 2nd of next month around Jeongok Port.

The Hwaseong Boat Festival has been selected as a "2024-2025 Cultural Tourism Festival." Starting with the opening ceremony at 2 PM on the 31st, this year's event will feature a variety of programs that all generations can enjoy, including yacht, boat, and cruise ship experiences, an EDM (Electronic Dance Music) festival, augmented reality (AR) experiences, and fireworks.

Dance Competitions, EDM Performances, Yacht Experiences, Fireworks... No Day or Night Off

At the Hwaseong Boat Festival, various yachts and boats are not only exhibited but visitors can also experience boarding them firsthand.

The festival offers a wide range of boarding experiences for visitors to choose from, including yacht and boat rides available from day to night, sea fishing programs near Ipado Island, and premium boarding programs. Various yachts and boats will also be exhibited both on land and at sea.

On the 1st of next month, starting at 1 PM on the main stage at Jeongok Port, the dance competition "Wind Reaper Dance Performance" will take place. Dance teams that passed the preliminary rounds will compete fiercely for a total prize of 27.6 million KRW.

At 7 PM on the same day, the "Boat Festival EDM" performance hosted by Park Myungsoo will be held on the main stage at Jeongok Port for two hours. Following that, from 9 PM, a "Marine Fireworks Display" will light up the night sea with spectacular fireworks.

Enjoying the Boat Festival on Land... An Eco-Friendly Event

Throughout the festival grounds, various busking performances and street performances will take place. In the Seohaerang lobby, the "Citizen Media Production Team" will host a live podcast broadcast of "Boat Festival Radio."

Especially, unique boat festival experiences on land have been prepared, including ▲creative boat making using recycled materials ▲rowing machine competitions ▲challenge! boat pulling. The "Cheonhae Yuramdan" experience offers visitors a cable car ride over the sea from Jeongok Port to Jebudo Island, allowing them to enjoy the beautiful mudflat scenery.

Additionally, the festival offers traditional fishing experiences using the tidal differences of the West Sea called "Doksal," as well as marine environmental protection plogging, where participants pick up trash while walking or jogging. The festival is scheduled to conclude with a closing ceremony at 5 PM on the 2nd of next month.

A representative of the Hwaseong Boat Festival explained, "We have planned a variety of events that the whole family can enjoy and unique programs exclusive to the boat festival to create a festival venue full of fun."
