Research Initiated Since January for Establishing a Mid- to Long-Term Development Plan for Libraries
Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) held a residents' discussion forum on the development of Guro-gu libraries on the 30th at the district office auditorium.
This forum was organized as part of gathering residents' opinions on the 'Library Mid- to Long-term Development Plan Establishment Study' that the district has been promoting since January, aimed at establishing a future vision and efficient operation plans for Guro-gu libraries.
Prior to the forum, from March 13 to April 21, the district conducted a 'Library Usage Survey' asking about library usage status, website satisfaction, and library specialization plans.
About 100 people attended the forum, including Guro-gu District Mayor Moon Heon-il, district council members, library officials, and residents. The event proceeded in the order of △Opening and guest greetings △Expert lecture △Presentation of Guro-gu library status and future vision △Q&A and residents' discussion △Closing.
In his opening remarks, Mayor Moon Heon-il said, “This forum was organized to listen to residents' opinions so that Guro-gu libraries can accompany residents' lives through the Library Mid- to Long-term Development Plan Establishment Study. We will continue to strive to make Guro-gu a better place to live by fostering mutual respect and cooperation between residents and administration.”
The expert lecture was delivered by Yoon Hee-yoon, Chairperson of the National Library Committee, on the topic of “The Overview and Key Points of the 4th Comprehensive Library Development Plan.”
Following this, a senior researcher from Hansung University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation presented “The Current Status and Future Vision of Guro-gu Libraries” based on the research content. Additionally, there was active discussion and exchange of various opinions regarding the development and role of Guro-gu libraries.
A Guro-gu official stated, “We will reflect the residents' opinions proposed at this forum in the study for establishing the Library Mid- to Long-term Development Plan. We ask for your continued interest and valuable suggestions for the development of Guro-gu libraries.”
