Expansion and Relocation of Gwanak-gu Smart Integrated Control Center Monitoring Room

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has successfully completed the expansion and functional improvement of the Smart Integrated Control Center, taking steps to create a safer Gwanak for its residents.

In response to serious crimes such as abnormal motive crimes that occurred last year and to establish a safe Gwanak where residents can feel secure, the district secured additional budget last year and actively promoted the expansion of the Smart Integrated Control Center’s functions, beginning full-scale operations.

The Gwanak Smart Integrated Control Center centrally manages over 5,800 closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) within the district, continuously expanding smart control systems such as ▲Smart City Integrated Platform ▲Intelligent Selective Control System ▲Missing Person Prevention System ▲Crowd Management System, making every effort to provide seamless 24-hour monitoring.

Through this project, the district renovated the control center building and facilities to expand new equipment and improve functions in the integrated control room.

First, due to the recent expansion of intelligent CCTV, the expansion of control infrastructure such as servers and storage, as well as various smart control systems, became essential. The control center building was expanded and relocated from three floors to four floors, allowing the system room to increase by 33㎡ compared to before.

Additionally, it is now possible to deploy eight control personnel simultaneously, enabling more staff to respond to real-time situations than before.

Moreover, the district worked to expand various auxiliary facilities and improve aging infrastructure to ensure stable 24-hour center operations.

By expanding infrastructure for equipment management such as backup generators, uninterruptible power supplies, and temperature and humidity control devices, as well as emergency power, a foundation for 24-hour uninterrupted system operation was established. Aging network equipment, servers, and monitoring systems were replaced to enable continuous real-time verification and utilization of CCTV video footage.

To facilitate active use of video materials by investigative agencies, the district newly established a dedicated police viewing room, greatly enhancing investigative convenience. At the same time, security management of personal video information was further strengthened to prevent any possible external leakage of personal information.

The control center employs a total of 36 personnel, including ▲16 control staff ▲4 police officers from Gwanak Police Station ▲2 Ansim-i personnel, working diligently to respond to incidents and accidents occurring in real time.

Currently, the 16 control personnel work in four teams on a three-shift system. The district plans to gradually increase the total number of control personnel to 32, double the current number, by 2027 to improve control efficiency and strengthen real-time crime response.

Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, “We will continue to prioritize residents’ safety by strengthening the role of the control center and expanding the installation of intelligent CCTV to create a safer Gwanak.”
