Miryang Traditional Head House ... Elegance of Tradition and Moonlight Performance

Traditional Korean Music Performance at Gyodong Son Byungsoon Old House on the Evening of the 31st

Miryang City, Gyeongnam announced on the 30th that a Moonlight Pungnyu Performance will be held at 12, Son Myungsun Goga, Gyodong Miryanghyanggyo 3-gil, at 7:30 PM on the 31st as part of the 2024 Old House Jonggatjip Utilization Project.

This performance will feature the Daegu Gyeongbuk branch of the Iltonggobeop Preservation Association, presenting a variety of traditional music such as small ensemble, pansori, gayageum and haegeum duet, and Namdo folk songs in the elegant setting of a traditional house. The Moonlight Pungnyu Performance, which showcases the outstanding charm of Korean traditional music, will continue on the fourth Friday of every month until October, except during the hot summer months of July and August.

Mayor Ahn Byunggu of Miryang said, "I hope the Moonlight Pungnyu Performance, where you can experience the elegance of hanok and the charm of Korean traditional music at the same time, will help you forget the midday heat for a while. The city will do its best to discover regional content utilizing old houses."

Meanwhile, the 2024 Old House Jonggatjip Utilization Project is hosted by Miryang City, organized by Munhwadanum, and sponsored by the National Heritage Administration. The project aims to enhance the usability of traditional houses, preserve local culture, and discover sustainable local content by encouraging participation from both residents and tourists.
