Seominwi Files Complaint Against Lee Seon-gyun's Agency for "Obstruction of Media and Investigators"

President Kim Sun-hwan Appears as Complainant
"Deceased Identified in Agency's Statement"

The Committee for the Protection of Ordinary Citizens' Livelihoods (Seominwi) filed a complaint with the police on the 30th against the late actor Lee Seon-gyun's agency, Hodoo&U Entertainment, on charges including obstruction of business and defamation.

Kim Soon-hwan, Secretary General of Seominwi, appeared at the Mapo Police Station in Seoul at 10 a.m. that day as a complainant to undergo police questioning and held a press conference, claiming that the agency's filing of complaints against the reporter who first reported Lee's drug investigation and the investigators of the Incheon Police Agency was an act of obstructing legitimate business.

Secretary General Kim stated, "Immediately after reports emerged that the agency was extorted of hundreds of millions of won by the drug supplier to top star L, the agency hastily released a statement that identified Lee," adding, "Nevertheless, the agency is shifting all responsibility for Lee's death onto the reporter and the investigators."

He continued, "We filed the complaint against the agency to prevent human rights violations of public figures caused by the disclosure of suspect facts that violate the presumption of innocence."

Meanwhile, Seominwi also announced plans to file a complaint against singer Kim Ho-joong. Secretary General Kim said, "Recently, the side of singer Kim, who caused social unrest through criminal acts such as drunk driving, mentioned Lee as a means to justify their own criminal behavior," adding, "If such conduct continues, we will consider filing a complaint regarding Kim's inappropriate actions."
