Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 30th that it has been selected for the 'Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Joint Response Team Operation' public project hosted by Gyeonggi Province. With this selection, the city will receive funding for team establishment and operation costs from the province.

Anseong-si Selected for 'Family and Sexual Violence Joint Response Team' Public Project

The 'Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Joint Response Team Operation' project is designed to establish a joint response system between the city and the police station to provide initial counseling and welfare support, connect victims to support agencies, offer medical assistance, and provide legal consultations for victims of related violence reported to 112. When a victim reports to 112, after the police's initial response, the joint response team conducts phone monitoring, home visits if necessary, lawyer consultation support, welfare services, and connections to support agencies.

The Anseong City joint response team is composed of professional counselors and abuse prevention police officers from the Anseong Police Station. The city plans to set up the response team on the 4th floor of the Anseong City Family Center, currently under construction in Oksan-dong, and begin full-scale operations from March next year.

An official from Anseong City expressed expectations that "the operation of the joint response team will provide systematic responses and customized welfare services to victims and strengthen the social safety net."

Meanwhile, there are currently eight locations in Gyeonggi Province operating related joint response teams, including Bucheon City, Hanam City, Gimpo City, Ansan City, Paju City, Hwaseong City, Gwacheon City, and Osan City.
