The "29th Muhakgi National High School Soccer Tournament," a gateway for promising talents who will lead Korean soccer, will kick off in style on June 1 in Hapcheon, the training camp mecca.

Jointly hosted by the Korea Football Association and the Gyeongsangnam-do Football Association, this tournament will feature around 2,000 players from 41 high school teams (39 senior teams and 31 junior teams), competing in heated matches over 15 days until the 15th.

The tournament will proceed with group stage matches across 10 groups, followed by a knockout format from the round of 20. From the round of 20 to the final, matches will be broadcast live daily via YouTube and other platforms, with the champion decided on the 15th.

Hapcheon first began hosting a nationwide soccer tournament in 2006 with the Muhakgi National High School Soccer Tournament (then titled the 2006 Hummel Korea 11th Muhakgi National High School Soccer Tournament). Since then, the city has hosted and attracted many national-level competitions, contributing to the local economy and the development of Korean soccer, and has grown into a soccer mecca.

In preparation for this tournament, Hapcheon is thoroughly checking hygiene in accommodation and restaurants and inspecting stadium facilities to provide better services for visiting teams, parents, and soccer officials. To ensure the convenience of participating teams during the early heat, the city will open night training fields equipped with lighting and offer sports massage rehabilitation programs.

Kim Yuncheol, Mayor of Hapcheon, said, "I hope the Muhakgi National High School Soccer Tournament will help boost the local economy and serve as an opportunity to widely promote Hapcheon's beautiful tourist attractions and affordable cuisine," adding, "As Hapcheon will host the largest number of participating teams among all tournaments held during this period, we will make every effort to ensure there are no inconveniences."

Meanwhile, after the Muhakgi National High School Soccer Tournament, the Queen's Cup National Women's Soccer Tournament will be held from June 18 to 27, followed by the Autumn National High School Soccer Tournament from July 18 to August 1, keeping the soccer fever alive in the region.
