All the street food stalls that had been operating for 30 years near Onyang Oncheon Elementary School in Asan, Chungnam, have been removed, disappearing into history.

On the 30th, Asan City announced that it had completed the removal of 11 street food stalls near Onyang Oncheon Elementary School on Cheongun-ro 84beon-gil.

The street food stall area, which had been operating for the past 30 years and held many memories for local residents, had faced ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety due to recent crimes involving intoxicated individuals and increased vehicle traffic.

In response, the city designated the voluntary removal of the street food stalls as a priority project starting last year and reached a smooth agreement after discussions with the merchants' association.

The street food stall area is scheduled to be renovated by the end of this year as part of the "Onyang Oncheon Old Downtown Crime Prevention Environmental Design Development Project."

An official from Asan City stated, "Once the street food stalls are removed and the road is repaved within this year, vehicle traffic and pedestrian environments will be dramatically improved," adding, "We will continue to make greater efforts to eradicate illegal street vendors and improve road conditions."
