Muan-gun Fisheries Patrol Vessel Rescues Angler A at Sea

Towing of Rubber Boat Drifting for 3 Hours Due to Engine Failure During Patrol

An incident occurred where a fisheries patrol vessel from Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, rescued a man who was enjoying fishing near Holtong, Hyeonggyeong-myeon.


According to Muan-gun on the 30th, on the 29th, the fisheries patrol vessel, while navigating to manage the protected area for octopus, discovered Mr. A, a resident of Hampyeong-gun, drifting due to an engine failure on his rubber boat, and successfully rescued him promptly.


Mr. A had set out from Masil Port in Haeje-myeon to enjoy fishing but drifted for about three hours due to engine starting failure.

Mr. A, who was operating the rubber boat alone at sea, was able to safely return to Masil Port in Haeje-myeon with the help of the Muan-gun fisheries patrol vessel.


At the time of rescue, Mr. A showed signs of exhaustion but fortunately had no health issues.


The captain of the fisheries patrol vessel said, “We are glad that our vessel was able to timely discover and rescue Mr. A, who was drifting, saving his life,” and added, “In addition to cracking down on illegal fishing, we actively respond to various emergency situations such as maritime accidents.”


This incident has served as an opportunity to raise awareness about safety among local fishermen, highlighting the prompt and efficient response capabilities of the Muan-gun fisheries patrol vessel, and has reminded those enjoying leisure activities at sea of the potential dangers.
