Gyeonggi Province will invest twice the usual amount in its road construction budget this year. This measure aims to prevent various side effects caused by the prolonged road projects.
On the 30th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it has allocated 445.3 billion KRW for road budgets this year. This is double the average annual related budget of 230 billion KRW over the past five years.
During the 8th local government term, Gyeonggi Province plans to complete 21 local road projects totaling 84.93 km and start 15 projects covering 70.82 km. This year, seven road projects, including Namyangju Onam?Sudong (6.34 km) and Yangju Ganap?Sangsu (5.70 km), will be completed.
Among these, five projects are located in the northern region, which the province expects will contribute to balanced development in the north and improve traffic conditions for local residents.
Oh Hu-seok, Deputy Governor for Administration of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "During the 8th local government term, Gyeonggi Province is rapidly advancing projects by securing an unprecedented large-scale road project budget. We will do our best to manage the projects so that residents can feel the benefits of road openings, commensurate with the significant budget investment."
