Students from the Department of Semiconductor Electronics at Yeungjin College (President Choi Jaeyoung) were honored with a paper award as the only junior college participants to receive such recognition at an academic conference hosted by the Korea Information Processing Society (KIPS).
According to Yeungjin College on the 30th, three second-year students from the Department of Future Automotive Electronics within the Semiconductor Electronics Division recently received the President's Award from the Federation of IT Academic Societies at the 'ASK 2024 (Annual Symposium of KIPS) 2024' academic conference held at Seoul National University Pyeongchang Campus in Gangwon-do.
Hyunsoo Lim, Hyunjun Park, and Hyobin Lee (from left) who received the paper award at the ASK 2024 Academic Conference are holding their certificates and expressing joy.
At this conference, over 300 papers were submitted from universities and graduate schools nationwide. The team of Park Hyunjun, Lee Hyobin, and Lim Hyunsu from Yeungjin College presented their paper, "Routing Protocol for QoS Enhancement in V2X Environment," which proposes efficient vehicle-to-vehicle communication in autonomous driving environments. They achieved the distinction of being the only junior college team to win an award.
Their paper addressed the limitations of existing systems, where communication quality between autonomous vehicles can deteriorate due to rapid movement and positional changes. The proposed improvements demonstrated superior performance compared to existing systems in simulation results.
Park Hyunjun, one of the award recipients, said, "I never imagined writing a research paper in my major as a junior college student, but thanks to the guidance of my professor and our efforts, I am very happy to receive this award. There were many difficulties in deriving the results, but we were able to overcome them through teamwork."
Lee Youngcheol, head of the Department of Future Automotive Electronics at Yeungjin College, stated, "I encouraged the students to participate so they could gain a deeper understanding of their major through the experience of presenting at an academic conference, and especially to develop expertise in autonomous vehicles. Taking this opportunity, Yeungjin College will strive even harder to produce leading professionals in the mobility field."
