Signed Business Agreement with Doosan Robotics
Robots that transport luggage together and deliver food will be introduced at Incheon International Airport.
On the 30th, Incheon International Airport Corporation announced that it signed a "Business Agreement to Establish a Collaborative System for Promoting the Digital Transformation of Incheon International Airport" with Doosan Robotics the day before.
Accordingly, the corporation and Doosan Robotics plan to pilot operate collaborative robots for luggage transportation in the large luggage manual handling area at Incheon Airport starting next month. Collaborative robots refer to robots that assist human tasks. In July, a "Robot Food Zone" where robots provide beverages and other items will also be created and operated. The food and beverage (F&B) specialized collaborative robots will provide services to passengers and on-site staff.
The corporation expects that introducing collaborative robots will reduce workers' labor intensity and improve safety. It also anticipates providing customers with a differentiated experience.
Lee Hak-jae, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, "Through this business agreement, passenger experience and airport operation efficiency at Incheon Airport will be greatly enhanced," adding, "We will continue to accelerate the digital transformation of Incheon Airport through collaboration with domestic and international big tech companies."
