LG Chem employees have volunteered to educate elementary school children nationwide about biodiversity.

On the 30th, LG Chem announced that from May until the end of the year, the 'Green Class Employee Volunteer Group' will provide educational talent donations at elementary schools and children's centers across the country. Green Class is a social contribution program by LG Chem and Hope Friends Korea Food for the Hungry International that offers ESG educational materials to elementary and middle schools.

Since last year, LG Chem employees have started visiting educational institutions directly to communicate with students through volunteer activities. This year, the volunteer group expanded its activities nationwide, including the Seoul headquarters, Magok business site, and Yeosu.

The Green Class instructors consist of about 100 employees who completed in-house training, participating from various age groups and job categories ranging from their 20s to 50s. Hwang Ho-chan, a senior employee at LG Chem who volunteered again this year following last year, said, "I resonated with the purpose of informing children about biodiversity and future visions, and personally felt a new experience and fulfillment, so I participated again."

The employee volunteer group plans to visit 50 institutions nationwide by the end of the year and provide career and environmental education to about 1,000 elementary school students. The instructors will use educational materials created by Green Class to lecture on biodiversity and ecosystems, and also organize activities such as making mood boards featuring endangered species to help children develop interest in the environment. Career education is delivered in a way that naturally shares dreams by explaining the choices and actions employees have taken in their lives, tailored to the children's level of understanding.

A representative from Seoul Yeongseo Elementary School said, "Thanks to the participation of LG Chem employees, the children seemed to take more interest in the environment in a joyful atmosphere, and it also helped with career counseling."

Kang Jae-cheol, head of sustainability, stated, "We will provide a sustainable educational environment together with employees, from biodiversity education to career counseling, so that children and adolescents can grow into global citizens who actively solve the social and environmental issues they will face in the future."
