Songpa-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced on the 30th that the "5th Songpa-gu Disabled Sports Competition" will be held on the 1st of next month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Songpa Women's Soccer Stadium.
In this sports competition, about 1,000 disabled individuals who have been socially excluded from sports activities due to their disabilities will be divided into four teams (Nanum, Hope, Happiness, Love) by groups. They will compete in team events such as ball rolling, card flipping, ball pool basketball, luck-based dice, OX quiz, 200m relay, and wheelchair relay.
Along with the team events, individual experience events such as disc golf, Hangung, Shulren, rowing machine, air bounce darts, and air bounce basketball will be set up around the playground. Side events include visually impaired soccer experience, wheelchair repair, writing family mottos on fans, and taking four-cut life photos, providing diverse activities where both disabled and non-disabled participants can enjoy together.
The congratulatory performances will feature the mixed choir "Miracle Voice Ensemble," composed of Korea's first developmentally disabled vocalists, and the lively "Play the 樂 (Play the Rak)" Pangut performance.
The "Songpa-gu Disabled Sports Competition" is evolving into a festival-type event where disabled and non-disabled people, along with their families, communicate and unite to enjoy together, unlike general sports competitions.
Mayor Seo Gang-seok said, "Through this event, we will make greater efforts to create an environment where disabled and non-disabled residents of our district can freely enjoy sports without prejudice."
