May Ice Cream Sales Surge
Discounts on Lala Sweet, Haagen-Dazs, and More
Lala Sweet 3300 Won → 1760 Won
CU, a convenience store operated by BGF Retail, announced on the 29th that it will hold a discount event on over 250 ice cream products, including Lala Sweet and H?agen-Dazs, throughout June targeting the summer season.
CU's ice cream sales growth rate in May showed a double-digit increase, rising 24.3% compared to the previous month and 18.5% compared to the same period last year. This was influenced by the early heatwave in May, with temperatures reaching close to 30 degrees Celsius, leading to an increase in customers seeking ice cream.

Considering that ice cream consumption patterns are divided between premium products and so-called cost-effective (value-for-money) products, CU has increased the number of promotional items by more than 100 compared to the previous month and is conducting discount and giveaway events.
First, CU is running a 2+1 event on all Lala Sweet products (excluding pints), which currently rank first in ice cream category sales and volume. Lala Sweet pint products are sold at a flat discount of 2,000 won, priced at 6,900 won. Additionally, customers paying with Hana Card can receive an extra 20% discount. Applying all related promotional benefits, Lala Sweet ice cream, originally priced at 3,300 won each, can be purchased for 1,760 won. The premium ice cream brand H?agen-Dazs offers a 40% discount on all products, including stick bars, monaka, and cups (for pints, a minimum purchase of two is required), even if only one item is purchased.
To capture value-for-money demand, half-price discounts and giveaway events are also being held. For about 40 representative ice cream products such as bars (sticks) like Jaws Bar and Melona, tube-type ice creams like Papico and Tank Boy, and the Zero series, a 50% discount is applied when purchasing five or more. More than 150 ice cream products, including cone ice creams (World Cone, Bravo, Ppangppare, etc.) and cup ice creams (such as Patbingsu), are available in 1+1 or 2+1 promotions.
For all ice cream products, a 30% discount is applied when paying with the CU Plus T-money card, and an additional 1,000 won discount is given when purchasing general ice cream products (excluding premium items) worth 5,000 won or more and paying via KakaoPay or Naver Pay. On CU’s own app, Pocket CU, a raffle event is held for customers who purchase five or more items eligible for a 50% discount, and an event is also held where customers who purchase all five types of ice cream?bar, tube, cup, cone, and monaka?receive an ice cream exchange voucher.
Park Hyeri, a product planner (MD) of the snack food team at BGF Retail, said, "Starting in June, we have selected the rapidly growing ice cream category as a strategic product to prepare for the full-fledged summer peak season." She added, "With payment discounts and telecom discounts combined, customers can purchase ice cream at a reasonable price with more than half off, so we ask for your great interest."
