Meeting with Shinsegae Property
The 'Hwaseong International Theme Park' project underway in the Songsan Green City area of Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, is entering the full-scale permit approval process.
Hwaseong City announced on the 29th that it held a meeting on the 28th with Shinsegae Property, the developer of Hwaseong International Theme Park, to discuss the designation of the tourism complex.

Hwaseong International Theme Park is planned to be developed as a complex resort-type theme park covering approximately 4.19 million square meters in the western reclaimed land area of the eastern district of Songsan Green City, Songsan-myeon, Hwaseong-si, with a total project cost of about 4.6 trillion KRW. Songsan Green City is a new town being developed on the southern reclaimed land of Siwha Lake.
During the meeting, Hwaseong City and Shinsegae Property shared overall project details including the ▲application for tourism complex designation ▲status of attracting IP (intellectual property) companies, and discussed the roles of related organizations in future project promotion, the city explained.
Earlier, Hwaseong City received a proposal for the tourism complex designation application for Hwaseong International Theme Park from Shinsegae Property in March and has been reviewing it through relevant departments and related agencies. Based on the review results, the city plans to apply to Gyeonggi-do for the designation of Hwaseong International Theme Park as a tourism complex within this month.
Shinsegae Property aims to attract a global IP company as early as the first half of the year, and if the tourism complex designation is approved, plans to propose a tourism complex development plan to the city early next year. Currently, Shinsegae Property is pushing forward with the project targeting an opening in 2029.
The city expects that the establishment of Hwaseong International Theme Park will create about 25,000 jobs and attract 20 million tourists annually, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "I hope that by attracting world-class IP companies, Hwaseong International Theme Park will be developed as a landmark of the Republic of Korea," and added, "Hwaseong City will spare no administrative support to ensure the project progresses swiftly."
