Requested to smoke during break then fled
Criticism over negligent management of detained suspect
At the end of last year, Kang Mo (30), the site operator who was arrested for instructing teenagers to graffiti the walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace, escaped while being questioned by the police but was apprehended after 1 hour and 50 minutes. It seems difficult to avoid criticism that the police were negligent in managing the detained suspect.

According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 28th, Kang escaped around 1:50 PM while being questioned at the Cyber Investigation Division of the Seoul Police Agency. During a break, Kang requested to "smoke a cigarette," then jumped over a fence and fled. The police mobilized all personnel for the search and apprehended Kang around 3:40 PM hiding in a wardrobe on the second floor of a nearby church building.
Kang is accused of instructing B through Telegram last December to graffiti a 30-meter phrase saying "Free Movie WillOOtv.com feat Nunu" on the walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Palace Museum, and the east gate wall of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, violating the Cultural Heritage Protection Act. It is reported that Kang issued instructions while changing his account names to "Team Leader Lee," "Manager Kim," and others.
Kang is also charged with operating a pornography distribution site and posting child sexual exploitation materials (distribution of obscene materials under the Information and Communications Network Act and distribution of sexual exploitation materials under the Youth Protection Act). Earlier, the court issued an arrest warrant on the 25th, citing concerns over evidence destruction and flight risk.
