Expanded to 262 Local Guardians in Gangseo-gu, with at Least 13 per Neighborhood

Discovering Life Inconveniences and Safety Hazards by Year-End... Capacity Training with Citizen Audit Ombudsman Chairman Invited on the 23rd

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) is further activating the ‘My Neighborhood Keeper’ program to resolve residents' daily inconveniences.

‘My Neighborhood Keeper’ is a resident reporting agent who actively identifies and reports inconveniences or safety hazards found in daily life to prevent residents' discomfort in advance.

Last year, the district operated a total of 200 My Neighborhood Keepers, 10 per neighborhood, discovering over 3,300 cases of inconvenience. In particular, they made significant contributions to removing safety hazards such as illegal parking, damaged road facilities, and roadside clutter.

This year, the district will expand the program to operate a total of 262 My Neighborhood Keepers, with at least 13 per neighborhood.

The My Neighborhood Keepers will engage in active on-site complaint reporting activities until the end of the year to prevent residents' inconveniences and accidents in advance.

On the afternoon of the 23rd at 3 PM, a capacity-building training session was held in the district office’s underground comprehensive situation room for about 180 My Neighborhood Keepers to enhance their pride in their activities and convey the direction of their work.

Joo Yong-hak, chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan Citizen Audit Ombudsman Committee, served as the instructor and detailed the purpose of activating on-site complaints, the role of My Neighborhood Keepers, and the procedures for reporting and handling on-site complaints.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “My Neighborhood Keepers, who are residents most familiar with the area and directly identify inconveniences or hazards, will be a great help in creating a pleasant and safe Gangseo-gu. Our district will also do its best to handle inconveniences as quickly as possible so that residents can live with peace of mind and without discomfort.”
