As claims that the commander is female emerged, some have raised issues about the gender. Some netizens reacted with comments such as "Female soldiers should not command troops. How can female soldiers command troops when their physical standards are lower than soldiers?" Earlier, at around 5:20 p.m. on the 23rd, one of six trainees undergoing military discipline training at a unit in Inje, Gangwon Province, collapsed. The collapsed trainee was urgently transferred to a civilian hospital for treatment but his condition worsened, and he died on the afternoon of the 25th.

Military discipline training refers to physical training and mental conditioning directed by commanders according to regulations and procedures to establish military discipline. It is implemented when commanders issue corrective instructions and is also called "Eolcharyeo" (physical punishment). The deceased trainee reportedly underwent military discipline training by marching around the parade ground with full combat gear.

According to Yonhap News, the trainee showed symptoms suspected to be "rhabdomyolysis." Rhabdomyolysis is a condition where muscle damage caused by excessive exercise or overheating can lead to death.
