Dongmyung University Students Participate in International Conference on Elderly Health Care

A Place for Training Professional Occupational Therapists

Dongmyung University (President Jeon Ho-hwan) participated in the Spring Academic Conference and Korea-Japan Forum jointly hosted by the Korean Society of Gerontechnology Industry and the Society of Occupational Therapy for the Elderly with Dementia, held at Inje University on the 25th.

Dongmyung University attended the event under the theme of "Social Connectivity and Technological Innovation for Elderly Health Management," together with 25 students from the Department of Occupational Therapy (Head of Department Jo Mirim) and 45 students participating in TU-Creator.

At the forum, Dr. Shinichi Watanabe from Yokohama Rehabilitation Hospital presented on "Discovering Product Ideas for the Gerontechnology Industry, Startups, and Technological Innovation: Cases of Elderly Health Management in Japan."

Dr. Atsushi Kamichi from Ochanomizu Care Service Center emphasized the importance of community connections in elderly health management through his presentation on "Building Social Support Networks: A Case from Japan." Other presentations included "Understanding Elderly Health and Social Connectivity" by Professor Shin Jungil of Kyungnam University, and "Sustainable Elderly Health Management Programs" by Professor Park Yunhee of Chunhae Health College.

Jo Mirim, Head of the Department, stated, "We will foster occupational therapy professionals to prepare for an aging society through education and research that reflect trends in modern elderly health management."

Professor Cho Seunghyun added, "We will continue to expand the role of the university and the department in promoting elderly health through shared knowledge and experiences."

Students from Dongmyung University are participating in an academic conference to acquire specialized knowledge related to startup items.
