Sh Suhyup Bank Defends Title at MBN Women's Open

Hwang Yumin is aiming for her first consecutive win in her career on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour. The Sh Suhyup Bank MBN Women's Open (total prize money 1 billion KRW), held over three days starting from the 31st at The Star Hue Golf & Resort in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do (par 72, 6,787 yards), is the battleground. A variable is that three top contenders are absent. Park Hyunkyung, who leads both the prize money ranking and the points for the Player of the Year, along with Kim Minbyeol and Kim Suji, are missing due to their participation in the major tournament US Women's Open starting on the 30th.
Hwang Yumin cannot forget the Sh Suhyup Bank MBN Women's Open. Last July, at the Daeyu Montvert Golf Course, under the name Daeyu Winia·MBN Women's Open, she won her first KLPGA Tour trophy after an extended playoff against fellow rookie Kim Minbyeol. Since then, she has grown into a top-tier player on the KLPGA Tour, and this year, she secured her second career win by claiming the title at last month's Doosan We’ve Championship. She ranks 4th in prize money (390.3 million KRW), 4th in Player of the Year points (160 points), and is tied for 2nd in scoring average (69.93 strokes).
The strongest players on the KLPGA Tour, Lee Yewon and Park Minji, who has risen to first place in all-time prize money, are favorites for the title. Bang Sinshil, who aims for victory with her long drives, and Bae Sohyun, last week's E1 Charity Open champion, will also participate. Sung Yujin, a member of the LPGA Tour, is entered in this tournament as a recommended player.
