Monthly Average Sales Growth Rate Approximately 23.5% This Year
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 28th that its Hetbahn Konjac Rice has surpassed 10 million units in cumulative sales since its first launch in September 2022. The monthly average growth rate of Hetbahn Konjac Rice sales this year was approximately 23.5%, and in April, ahead of the peak summer season, it recorded the highest monthly sales since its launch, maintaining a strong growth trend.
CJ CheilJedang analyzed that the popularity of Hetbahn Konjac Rice is due to its taste and convenience realized through differentiated technology and know-how. CJ CheilJedang uses a two-step cooking method that preserves the appropriate moisture and stickiness of the rice while maximizing the savory aroma, improving the unique texture and taste of konjac. Additionally, consumers praised the fact that it can be completed in just 2 minutes without the hassle of separately preparing and soaking konjac rice.
In line with the wellness trend of reducing carbohydrate intake, CJ CheilJedang is diversifying its product lineup and leading the instant rice market trend. In March, CJ CheilJedang launched ‘Chickpea Quinoa Konjac Rice’ and ‘Lentil Quinoa Konjac Rice,’ which optimally blend konjac with various whole grains. Lentil Quinoa Konjac Rice contains 160 kcal and 4g of dietary fiber, which is 16% of the daily nutritional intake standard, while Chickpea Quinoa Konjac Rice contains 170 kcal and 6g of dietary fiber, accounting for 25% of the daily nutritional intake standard, making it a high dietary fiber product.
Last year, the share of wellness instant rice (konjac rice, Sotban, low-protein rice, etc.) in CJ CheilJedang’s domestic Hetbahn sales doubled compared to the previous year, reaching 6.3%.
