Introduction of Submarines and Unmanned Vessels at Canadian Defense Exhibition
Hanwha Aero Responds to Regional Demand with Self-Propelled Artillery Package
Hanwha Ocean and Hanwha Aerospace are participating for the first time in Canada's largest defense exhibition to showcase world-class submarine and unmanned vessel technologies, as well as various land weapons.
On the 28th, the two companies announced that they will attend 'CANSEC (Canada's Global Defence & Security Trade Show)' held over two days starting on the 29th (local time) in Ottawa, Canada. This exhibition is Canada's largest defense exhibition, with over 280 companies and delegations from more than 50 countries participating annually.

Hanwha Ocean will showcase the Jangbogo-III (KSS-III) Batch-II submarine, the unmanned power command and control vessel (Ghost Commander), and lithium battery modules for submarines. Hanwha Aerospace will exhibit ground system equipment such as the K9 self-propelled howitzer, Redback armored vehicle, and Cheonmu launcher.
The Jangbogo-III Batch-II submarine currently under construction is the world's best diesel submarine with upgraded performance in endurance and armament capacity compared to the Jangbogo-III Batch-I (Dosan Ahn Changho-class) submarine. It is the world's first diesel submarine to simultaneously equip an air-independent propulsion (AIP) system and lithium-ion batteries, providing the best endurance among existing diesel submarines. It boasts superior capabilities to operate various armaments such as torpedoes and cruise missiles.
Hanwha Ocean plans to actively participate in the new submarine acquisition project aimed at replacing the four Victoria-class submarines promoted by the Canadian government through this submarine.
Additionally, the Ghost Commander vessel is an effective ship corresponding to the future Smart Navy and unmanned/manned hybrid combat system (Navy Sea GHOST) envisioned by the Republic of Korea Navy. It carries and commands unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned surface vessels, unmanned submarines, and other unmanned forces to conduct operations at sea.
Hanwha Aerospace is responding to regional demand in Canada by promoting the 'self-propelled howitzer package' consisting of the K9 self-propelled howitzer and K10 ammunition resupply vehicle. They will also exhibit the Redback, a future infantry fighting vehicle (IFV), the high-precision advanced air defense weapon system Biho Complex, as well as tactical guided missiles Cheonggeom and multiple rocket launcher Cheonmu.
A Hanwha Ocean official said, "By prominently showcasing the Jangbogo-III Batch-II submarine, which currently holds the world's strongest performance in its class, we will realize submarine exports to Canada, Poland, and other countries, setting an example for pioneering the global market of K-maritime defense."
