Park Hyungjoon, Mayor of Busan, and Jung Taesoon, Chairman of Badayeopum, will attend the ceremony.

This ceremony has been arranged as part of Badayeopum's social contribution project, to donate 1.7 billion KRW for the construction of a children's marine library and a marine complex cultural space in Busan, the marine capital of Korea.

Badayeopum is a public interest foundation established in 2022 by voluntary contributions from shipping companies using corporate tax special case savings from the tonnage tax system. Each year, it discovers and supports social contribution projects in the shipping industry.

This support aims to raise the interest of Busan citizens in marine culture, as Busan has developed through Busan Port and its related industries over the years.

With the donated funds, the city plans to build a "Children's Marine Library" within the National Maritime Museum in Yeongdo-gu and, after demolishing the former Yangjeong 2 Police Center near Yangjeong Station on Metro Line 1, to create a "Children's Marine Complex Cultural Space" at that location.

The city and Badayeopum expect that this donation ceremony and the construction of these facilities will serve as an opportunity for children and youth in Busan, the marine capital, to develop greater interest in marine culture.

Jung Taesoon, Chairman of Badayeopum, stated, "I hope that the Children's Marine Library and Marine Complex Cultural Space created through this support will inspire marine ideology and serve as a stepping stone for children to dream about the sea."

Park Hyungjoon, Mayor of Busan, said, "I sincerely thank Badayeopum for giving such a great gift to the children and youth of Busan as part of its social contribution project in the shipping industry. The city will also actively support the development of the shipping industry and the strengthening of international competitiveness," adding, "We will operate the two facilities supported by Badayeopum well so that children and youth can take a greater interest in marine culture."
