Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will hold the '2024 Seonyuro Festival' for two days from May 31 to June 1 in the Seonyuro Market area located around exits 2 and 6 of Seonyudo Station.
The 'Seonyuro Festival' is part of Seoul City's local brand commercial district development project. Since being selected in the 2022 public contest, the district has been striving to revitalize the commercial area by offering relaxed and attractive experiential activities unique to the Seonyuro Market. In particular, this festival focuses on expanding opportunities for small business owners by involving them from the planning stage to strengthen their autonomy and sustainability.
Under the theme of 'Spring Day Play,' various programs are prepared for this festival. These include ▲ the 'Seonyuro Market,' ▲ experiential workshops such as 'Seonyuro Workshop,' 'Fresh Balloon Zone,' and 'Seonyuro Bouquet,' and ▲ 'Seonyudongsan,' a small amusement park in Seonyuro.
Additionally, ▲ the 'Fresh Photo Zone,' ▲ the 'Commercial District Promotion Zone' featuring pop-up stores and various events, and ▲ the 'Food Zone' where visitors can taste alleyway commercial district foods will also be operated.
At the 'Seonyuro Market,' not only flea markets operated by small business owners within the commercial district selling coffee, desserts, bouquets, and more will be held, but citizens including children will also participate in running the market. Especially at the flea market run by citizens, items made under the theme of 'resource circulation' will be available, providing an opportunity to raise awareness about environmental issues and consider a sustainable future.
The 'Seonyuro Workshop' offers content such as making leather keyrings and wallets, acrylic landscape paintings, wire dolls and soap making, and ceramic hand-painting to encourage participants to become consumers visiting the commercial district. However, a small participation fee may be charged for materials, and participants will be provided with Seonyu Pay worth 3,000 KRW. Seonyu Pay can be used at stores within the Seonyuro Market that display the 'Green Flag.'
Following this, the 'Seonyu Food Zone,' where visitors can taste foods unique to the Seonyuro Market, will operate near exit 6 of Seonyudo Station from 5 PM to 9 PM. Visitors can enjoy food leisurely under parasols feeling the cool breeze and participate in various events such as 'Happiness for 10,000 Won' and 'One-on-One Match with Freshness.'
In the 'Commercial District Promotion Zone,' a pop-up store composed of anchor store contents from the Seonyuro Market will be operated, and official Seonyuro products (such as portable batteries and pouches) will be provided through various certification events.
Moreover, special experiential programs such as ▲ 'Fresh Balloon Zone' where visitors can make their own balloons, ▲ 'Seonyuro Bouquet' where bouquets are made from paper, ▲ 'Seonyudongsan,' inspired by a small amusement park, and ▲ 'Fresh Photo Zone' where visitors can rent fresh-themed costumes and become a 'fresh' person are also prepared.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, "For this festival, we expanded the participation of small business owners within the Seonyuro Market to enhance the sustainability and autonomy of the commercial district, planning it together from the initial stage. We will continue to provide unwavering support so that the unique relaxation and diversity of the Seonyuro Market can be fully expressed and it can become a representative local brand commercial district of Seoul."
