10 AI Companies in Data, Platform, Healthcare Sign Business Agreement

Collaboration on Technology Development and Commercialization... Expectation to Build a Strong Gwangju AI Industry Ecosystem

The lineup of promising artificial intelligence (AI) specialized companies continues to grow in Gwangju, known as the "AI Demonstration City." This year alone, as many as 32 AI companies have chosen to move to Gwangju, further solidifying the city's AI industry ecosystem.


Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kang Gi-jung) announced on the 27th that it signed the 190th to 199th business agreements with 10 AI companies from various fields such as data, healthcare, and platforms, including AbleCloud, SmartRide, Lutonics, Linkverse, iClo, Edutem, Korea Deep Learning, Mirae IT, Hantech, and Eleksen.

These companies agreed to actively cooperate in creating Gwangju's AI ecosystem by developing AI specialized technologies and commercializing them through establishing corporations or regional offices. They will also contribute to creating new jobs in the Gwangju area by nurturing specialized talent.


The main contents of the agreement include ▲ promoting technology development and commercialization and providing technical and policy advice to build a specialized AI ecosystem in Gwangju ▲ establishing Gwangju corporations or regional offices to nurture AI talent and create jobs ▲ developing, operating various corporate support programs, and promoting companies to foster the AI industry ecosystem ▲ planning and implementing education and employment programs for AI specialized personnel.


The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Kang Gi-jung, along with CEOs and representatives including Min-gil Kwon of AbleCloud, Woo-young Lee of SmartRide, Hyuk-jin Moon, AI Development Manager of Lutonics, Young-jun Park of Linkverse, Jun-bae Kim of iClo, Jung-hoon Shin of Edutem, Seok Ryu, Technical Director of Korea Deep Learning, Sung-hoon Lim of Mirae IT, Eon-jeong Jin, Business Management Team Leader of Hantech, and Young-il Kim, Head of Strategic Planning at Eleksen.


The company representatives said, "Through this agreement, we will work as one team with Gwangju, where core AI infrastructure and specialized talent are concentrated, to grow into a good company," and added, "We will do our best to contribute to the creation of Gwangju's AI industry ecosystem, which shows special interest and support in the AI field."


Mayor Kang Gi-jung of Gwangju said, "We welcome the new members of the AI-centered city of Gwangju," and added, "Gwangju City will provide full support as one with the companies for their growth. By fostering the AI industry ecosystem, we will advance as Korea's leading city for startups and demonstrations."


AbleCloud Co., Ltd. was established in February 2021 and develops and provides the single cloud platform 'ABLESTACK.' Within one year of its establishment, it earned GS Certification (Grade 1), recognizing its technological capabilities. Through virtualization and software-defined technologies, it pursues secure management of infrastructure and data, high compatibility, and cost efficiency, contributing to innovation in corporate data centers.


SmartRide Co., Ltd. enhances profitability and creates new value by utilizing digital work tools and data in the value chain of the transportation industry. In particular, its taxi service app 'D Note,' currently in service, simplifies tasks and intermediates related value-added services, receiving positive responses.


Lutonics Co., Ltd. is a healthcare beauty company that predicts scalp and hair loss and provides various solutions based on skin aging measurement using multi-analytical AI technology. Since 2023, it has been conducting overseas PoCs and challenging the global anti-aging market with solutions such as 'MONADOO,' which offers hair loss care solutions for various ethnicities, and 'CELLADEEP,' which proposes customized slow-aging solutions analyzed by dermatologists.


Linkverse Co., Ltd. is an AI healthcare startup that developed a real-time big data-based personalized healthcare service platform using AI technology, based on the belief that human hands and nails can be biomarkers. It won the Innovation Award at CES 2023, the world's largest electronics exhibition, demonstrating significant global growth potential.


iClo Co., Ltd. is a dental healthcare specialized company that induces early treatment by predicting oral diseases using patented oral big data-based deep learning. It quantifies data from baby teeth to permanent teeth in infants and children, developing a remote oral examination and consultation patient management system solution that connects hospitals and patients, allowing management of disease prediction, prevention, and all individual dental checkup and treatment histories via an app.


Edutem Co., Ltd. supplies the AI technology specialized for education, 'ELA AI Solution,' to medium and large enterprises. Its main technologies include speech recognition, pronunciation evaluation, sentence correction, chatbots, and generative AI. It collaborates with various publishers to supply AI technology for the Ministry of Education's 'AI Digital Textbook,' which will be introduced in 2025.


Korea Deep Learning Co., Ltd. is a digital transformation (DX) specialized company based on AI, composed of world-class AI experts. It supplies solutions such as text recognition (DEEP OCR), image analysis (DEEP IMAGE), big data analysis (DEEP SOLUTION), and 3D object generation (DEEP 3D DX). As of 2023, it has demonstrated growth and stability with sales of 3.5 billion KRW and operating profit of 450 million KRW.


Mirae IT Co., Ltd. is a growing company with 24 years of experience and know-how in data and AI fields, currently conducting R&D and business in various areas such as disaster safety, climate change (carbon neutrality), and manufacturing AI in both public and private sectors.


Hantech develops multi-modal AI models in On-Device AI form, providing technical support to Porsche Korea and Hyundai Department Store, and is currently pursuing overseas expansion to Japan, Canada, Singapore, and more. It plans to cooperate with Gwangju City to create an edge AI-based customized AI industry ecosystem.


Eleksen Co., Ltd. is a specialized company developing AI-based inverters for optimal operation of electric vehicle drive motors, as well as service platforms including wireless and wired sensors for current measurement in power systems, IoT-based smart sensors, and non-face-to-face integrated power management monitoring through energy harvesting sensing technology, featuring AI data-based anomaly detection functions.
