Over 312,000 Visitors in 5 Days...Increasing the Likelihood of Hosting the 2027 World Expo
The 2024 Cheonan K-Culture Expo successfully concluded, attracting 310,000 visitors over five days. Mayor Park Sang-don of Cheonan visited the city hall briefing room on the 27th to announce the expo's achievements.
The '2024 Cheonan K-Culture Expo,' which concluded on the 26th, attracted about twice as many visitors as last year, increasing the possibility of hosting the 2027 World Expo.
According to the city on the 27th, approximately 312,000 visitors participated in the Cheonan K-Culture Expo held at the Independence Hall from the 22nd to the 26th under the theme "Global K-Culture, Coloring the World."
On the first day of the event, the 22nd, and on the 25th, daily attendance exceeded 110,000, setting a record for the highest number of visitors in a single day since the Independence Hall opened.
Marking its second year, this K-Culture Expo helped Cheonan expand various sectors of the Korean cultural industry and strengthen its industrial exhibition content capabilities, emerging as a central city leading Korea's K-Culture.
The expo showcased the diversity of the cultural industry, featuring K-pop performances representing the Korean Wave such as K-pop Concert in the World and K-pop World Audition, as well as industry exhibitions for K-beauty, food, and webtoons, thematic exhibitions, a Hangul zone, K-Culture industry conferences, Cheonan Cultural City Festa, K-Heritage Hanbok Fashion Show, and K-Culture Abnormal Summit.

Various contents aimed at advancing toward the World Expo were also on display.
The newly introduced exhibition halls attracted attention by showcasing the growth and potential of each industry along with related products, technologies, and services. The K-Culture Industry Conference proposed ways to enhance the future value of Korea's cultural industry.
In particular, the K-pop World Audition, which involved over 1,000 cultural artists from 22 countries worldwide, united people globally through culture and demonstrated the potential for a World Expo.
A rich array of cultural events was prepared to promote Cheonan's unique culture. Alongside planned performances by the Cheonan Municipal Arts Troupe, the 'Cheonan Young Artists Festa,' featuring performances and acts by young artists from Cheonan, the 'Fringe Festa' showcasing cultural and artistic performances by local artists, and the 'Cheonan Cultural City Festa' received great acclaim.
Having taken a step forward as a cultural industry expo, Cheonan plans to complement and expand the K-Culture industry in various fields such as E-sports, film, and fashion with the goal of hosting the '2027 K-Culture World Expo.'
Mayor Park Sang-don stated, "This K-Culture Expo blossomed the Korean Wave and created opportunities while presenting new K-content that combines history and culture," adding, "We will do our best to further develop the distinctiveness and value of the K-Culture Expo so that Cheonan leads Korea's future and spearheads K-Culture."
