Held at COEX from May 31 to June 2... 80 booths featuring ▲Exhibition & Experience Booths ▲Robot Creation Competition ▲Events & Performances
Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the "2nd Gangnam Robot Plus Festival" from May 31 to June 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the east lobby and plaza on the first floor of COEX.
The district held the first Robot Plus Festival last November to promote various commercialized robots and Gangnam-gu’s robot business development policies, receiving great response. For this second event, under the concept of "A Robot City Journey with Family," the robot experience programs for family visitors have been further expanded.
Participants include robot research institutes and robot companies... Meet everyday robots at over 80 booths
The festival is broadly divided into ▲exhibition & experience booths ▲robot creation contest ▲events & performances. The exhibition and experience zone features participation from three institutions: Korea Electronics Technology Institute, Korea Institute of Robot Convergence, and Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, along with five schools including Kwangwoon University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation, Sangmyung University, Halla University, and Seoul Robot High School, plus about 40 robot companies, setting up over 80 booths. Visitors can tour the exhibition booths, collect stamps on a leaflet, and receive souvenirs.
This exhibition allows visitors to see robots used in daily life all in one place. These include ▲manufacturing and collaborative robots used in industrial sites ▲robots for dementia prevention cognitive training, care, wearable devices, and rehabilitation therapy in the medical and healthcare fields ▲educational coding robots such as humanoid AI, autonomous vehicles, and modular block robots ▲indoor and outdoor delivery robots ▲smart farm educational robots ▲robots that make ramen, coffee, and cotton candy. ▲Additionally, there are 3D experiences to understand Gangnam-gu’s ongoing robot development policies and a VR game to experience delivery robots.
Robot Creation Contest... Build your own robot using assembly blocks
At the popup zone, the robot creation contest takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. On May 31, elementary school students participate; on June 1, middle and high school students; and on June 2, family teams. Each category accepted 30 teams through prior registration. In the elementary and middle/high school divisions, participants build mobility robots and operate them in the arena to complete missions. The family division allows even toddlers to participate by building Urban Air Mobility (UAM) models using toddler-friendly assembly blocks. Awards and prizes will be given to outstanding participants in each category. After the contest, the popup zone continues to offer educational robot experience programs.
2.4m Giant Robot Titan in Action! Robot Magic Lecture Show, Music Performances, Robot Costumes
The main stage features various robot performances. The 2.4-meter-tall giant Titan robot performs a dazzling dance. Titan, created by the UK company Cyberstein, is a popular robot that tours worldwide to deliver messages of dreams and hope to children. Other attractions include ▲a robot magic lecture show combining future technology and entertainment ▲busking performances by musical robots ▲group dances by small humanoid robots ▲photo time with robot costume players, offering plenty of fun sights.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “To develop into a robot-friendly city that will be a future growth engine, it is essential for residents to take an interest in and learn about robots, which is why we planned this festival. We will focus on promoting robot industry development policies based on the Gangnam Robot Hub District to make Gangnam the mecca of Korea’s robot industry.”
