A man in his 30s who posted a message online predicting a random stabbing at Seoul Station has been arrested by the police.
On the afternoon of the 26th, Chief Judge Lee Chang-yeol of the Criminal Division 4 at the Seoul Northern District Court held a pre-arrest detention hearing for the man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, who is charged with threats and obstruction of official duties, and issued an arrest warrant citing "risk of flight."
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of posting a message on the DC Inside gallery on the 22nd at 1:42 PM stating, "I will carry out a stabbing at Seoul Station on the 24th. I will kill 50 men and women, anyone."
The police executed a search warrant on DC Inside on the 24th, analyzed the data, and arrested Mr. A at his home in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, at around 7:20 PM the same day.
After finishing the hearing at around 3:58 PM, Mr. A did not respond to reporters' questions about whether he had any intention to actually commit the crime or the reason for posting the message.
It was confirmed that Mr. A has a criminal record with more than 10 previous offenses.
