Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) held the ‘2024 Seoripul Children and Youth Festival’ at Seocho Culture and Arts Park on the 25th. The festival brought together youths, families, and audiences to enjoy various performances, experiential activities, and competitions.

The newly introduced ‘Youth e-Sports Tournament’ attracted the most attention by featuring matches of ‘League of Legends,’ the number one online game popular among youths.

On the day, four teams that advanced through the online preliminaries held on the 18th, with a total of 40 participants from eight teams, competed in the finals. In the championship match, the ‘Yang Beomjun Ddi’ team, which was considered a strong favorite after winning all preliminary matches within 20 minutes, claimed the championship. The ‘Yang Beomjun Ddi’ team, consisting of five first-year students from Banpo High School, said they named their team after their homeroom teacher and proudly showcased their teamwork.

The ‘2024 Seoripul Children and Youth Festival’ is hosted by Seocho-gu and jointly organized by the Seocho Youth Center and Bangbae Youth Center. Now in its third year, it is a festival where youths take center stage. From the preparation stage, a festival planning group called ‘Yousters’ was formed, allowing youths to plan and actively participate in the actual operation, adding deeper significance to the event.

Besides the e-Sports tournament, the cultural and arts competition ‘Doomchit Kkumchit’ was held, providing an opportunity for youths to showcase their talents and creativity. Additionally, 34 experiential booths organized by the Seocho Smart Youth Center were operated. Notably, booths featuring smart and artistic concepts reflecting the Seocho-style ‘Smart & Art Youth Center,’ such as △Robot Battles, △VR Games, and △Free Graffiti Zone, attracted much attention.

The festival will continue next year as well. The district plans to fully support this event so that it can establish itself as a representative youth festival where youths can feel a sense of participation and pride while enjoying themselves.

Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “It was a meaningful time to see the talents of youths through e-Sports matches and dance competitions,” adding, “We will continue to strive to create a healthy leisure culture where youths can enjoy hobbies outside of their studies.”
