Alcohol and Marijuana Authority Followed by Coercive Acts
"Fewer Modeling Opportunities After Incident"
Sean Diddy Combs (54, formerly known as Puff Daddy), a major figure in the American hip-hop scene who sparked public outrage after a video of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend was released, has now been sued for sexual assault.
According to a report by the British BBC on the 23rd (local time), former model Crystal McKinney first met Combs at a fashion week event held in New York, USA, in 2003 when she was 22 years old.
Combs offered McKinney a drink, saying he would help her with her modeling career, and invited her to his studio that night.
When McKinney arrived at the studio, Combs was drinking and smoking marijuana with other men. Combs offered McKinney marijuana and alcohol as well, and despite McKinney saying she had "had enough," he continued to pressure her.
McKinney confessed, "After I got intoxicated, Combs took me to the bathroom and forced sexual acts on me," adding, "I lost consciousness and when I woke up, I took a taxi and fled the place immediately." She expressed, "I felt shame and mental trauma, and felt I had nowhere to turn," and lamented, "Afterwards, my modeling opportunities decreased. It seems Combs used his influence to intimidate the industry."
McKinney attempted an extreme act in 2004. In the lawsuit, she stated, "I have kept the clothes I wore at the time of the sexual assault in a plastic bag in my closet without washing them." McKinney debuted as a model after winning the MTV survival audition program 'Model Mission' at age 17.
Previously, Combs caused a scandal when a video showing him assaulting his girlfriend eight years ago, singer Keshy (real name Cassandra Ventura), was released.
The video, released by CNN on the 17th, shows a man believed to be Combs running out in a hotel hallway in Los Angeles (LA) on March 5, 2016, wearing only a towel around his lower body, throwing Keshy down and kicking her.
He later posted the video on his Facebook and Instagram, apologizing by saying he was "truly sorry" and that his actions were "inexcusable." Combs said, "I take full responsibility for my actions in the video," adding, "I was disgusted with myself when I did those things then, and I still am now."
