'Korea Trip Announced' Jang Wian: "Wearing Ming Dynasty Clothes to Gyeongbokgung Will Feel Like Inspecting a Vassal State"

Visiting Korea Soon... Street Interviews with Koreans Scheduled
"Will Show True Korea from a Neutral Perspective"

Jang Yuan, a Chinese-born broadcaster who gained popularity in Korea through the JTBC entertainment program 'Non-Summit,' claimed that Korea has stolen Chinese culture.

On the 24th, the YouTuber 'Shwineun Sigan,' who covers China-related news, uploaded a video discussing Jang Yuan's TikTok broadcast content.

According to the video, on the 23rd, Jang Yuan announced on his personal live broadcast that he would soon visit Korea and discussed with viewers what kind of content he should create there. He said, “I will conduct street interviews to find out how Koreans feel about Koreans stealing Chinese culture,” adding, “I will ask whether they think elements such as the Dragon Boat Festival, Confucius, Hanja, and Chinese seasonal festivals are all Korean.”

Jang Yuan also added that he wants to wear traditional Chinese clothing in Korea and visit Korean palaces. He said, “I will go to Gyeongbokgung Palace, wear the emperor’s clothes from the Ming and Song dynasties, and tour the royal palace. It will feel like an emperor inspecting a vassal state,” and “Then I will take the Korean subway or go to busy streets to showcase the beauty of traditional Chinese male attire.”

Jang Yuan emphasized, “I do not dislike Korea. I spent more than ten years of my youth in Korea, so I have strong positive feelings. Of course, there are definitely some negative aspects,” and added, “I will go to Korea and show the true Korea from a neutral standpoint.”

According to 'Shwineun Sigan,' Jang Yuan recently raised a conspiracy theory in a video on his channel, claiming that a scene in the teaser video for girl group IVE’s new song reminded him of Manin-gang (a site of mass massacre during Japanese occupation), and that the teaser release date and concert date are related to painful Chinese history, demanding, “If it was a mistake, explain it.”

Regarding his remarks about IVE, Jang Yuan said he does not mind if Korean media report on his statements, adding, “On the contrary, I hope it gets reported.”
