Uljin County Focuses on Establishing Fresh Seafood Distribution System

Pilot Project for Fresh Seafood Distribution System: Delivery Test in the Seoul Metropolitan Area

Uljin County in North Gyeongsang Province is launching a new initiative to fundamentally transform the seafood distribution paradigm, enabling consumers in the Seoul metropolitan area and inland regions to easily access Uljin's fresh seafood.

The "Fresh Seafood Distribution System Establishment Project" aims to build a stable supply chain for seafood produced in Uljin, establish a same-day delivery system for the Seoul metropolitan and inland regions, and revitalize the Uljin County seafood brand while creating local jobs.


Since the second half of 2023, the county has collaborated with a service provider to diversify packaging by applying cold chain boxes, insulated boxes, and Styrofoam boxes, and has tested same-day delivery using express buses and refrigerated trucks. Starting from the second half of this year, the county plans to collaborate with delivery platform companies in the metropolitan area to supply Uljin County's seafood to consumers' tables in a fresh and hygienic state, implementing the project in phases.


In particular, through this project, the county is striving to build a seafood distribution system that enables local businesses to coexist and revitalizes the local economy, while simultaneously achieving both job creation and securing sales channels.


County Governor Son Byeongbok stated, "By gradually implementing the Fresh Seafood Distribution System Establishment Project, we will lay the foundation for the stable supply of Uljin County's fresh seafood and advance the distribution structure in the fisheries sector."
